National Chartered Accountants Students’ Conference
This is an event, which provides access for CA Sri Lanka students to a forum of guest speakers and gives them an opportunity to question prominent figures on the happenings in the business community. Prominent personalities and intellectuals from various professional fields have graced the occasion as chief guests. Further Student delegates from Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and India who are members of South Asian Federation of Accounts (SAFA) are taking part in our conference representing their accounting bodies. Students from other professional bodies like ACCA, CIMA, AAT are also invited to interact with us to share experiences and knowledge.

This is an event, which is organized by the students’ society with the backing of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, providing access for CA Sri Lanka students to a forum of guest speakers,and giving them, the opportunity to question prominent figures on the happenings in the business community .This year’s conference was held on 06th of April 2011 at the Hotel Galadari, Grand Ballroom and themed as ‘Economic Renaissance’ with prominent personalities such as Mr.Suren Amarasekara (Chief Executive Officer- Mobitel),Mr Reyaz Mihular( Partner-KPMG Ford,Rhodes, Thornton & Co.), Mr. Prema Cooray (Managing Director-CCC Solutions (Pvt) Ltd., Chairman- Citrus Leisure), Mr. Fouzul Hameed (Managing Director- Hameedia.), Mr. Terry Unruh (Managing Director- Character Percepts Training Institute (Pvt) Ltd.) and among others were Mr. Sujeewa Mudalige (President-ICASL),Mr Sujeewa Rajapakse (Vice President-ICASL) ,Mr. Lasantha Wicremasinghe (Council Member & Student Committee Chairman of CA Sri Lanka) and Mr.Aruna Alwis (CEO of CA Sri Lanka).


The keynote speaker was Mr.Suren Amarasekara who presented the conference theme and explained how leadership will promote Economic Renaissance. Further, the other guest speakers Mr Reyaz Mihular who spoke on "Challenges Ahead- SLAS to IFRS" , Mr Prema Cooray addressed on the topic"Leisure Sector as a driver for Economic Renaissancel"and Mr Fouzul Hameed addressed on the topic "Dress Attire in Corporate World" and Mr Terry Unruh on "HR Strategies in an Economic Renaissance".
Around 700 Chartered Accountancy and other students along with several distinguished personalities of our Profession graced the event having an overwhelming response from the student’s population. Further, students from South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) region (India, Pakistan & Nepal) also took part in the conference under the SAFA students’ Exchange Program.
