The strong training partnership network of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) received a further boost recently with 16 top companies coming onboard as strategic level training partners at a special ceremony held at the Institute’s Colombo 7 premises.
The 16 companies included some big names in the country’s business world and represented the non-public (non-audit) sector organizations, giving the institute’s over 650 training partnership network a further boost with the latest recognition.
CA Sri Lanka Strategic Level training partner recognition was granted to Ace Distriparks (Pvt) Ltd, Amba Research Lanka Pvt Ltd, Chart Consultants (Pvt) Ltd, Continental Insurance Lanka Limited, Diesel & Motor Engineering PLC, Etisalat Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, First Capital Treasuries Limited, GAC Shipping Limited, Hayleys Consumer Products Ltd, Lanka Electricity Company Private Limited, Nawaloka Hospitals PLC, North Manufacturing (Pvt) Ltd, Sanasa Development Bank PLC, Singer Industries (Ceylon) PLC, Sri Lanka Land Reclamation & Development Corporation and The Autodrome PLC.
CA Sri Lanka Vice President Mr. Herath addressing the training partners noted that today the Institute has over 650 training partners, covering a large spectrum of industries in both public practice (audit) and non-public practice (non-audit) sectors. “Through our island-wide network of training partners, CA Sri Lanka expects to provide our students with a greater selection in finding a training partner of their choice,” he noted.
He also urged the newly recognize training partners to provide more training opportunities for the rapidly increasing student base of the Institute.
CA Sri Lanka President, Mr. Sujeewa Rajapakse emphasized that CA Sri Lanka is among the country’s leading and largest tertiary education providers, with a mammoth student base of 41,000 who are aspiring chartered accountants. “Our qualification is recognized to be one that is both relevant and modern, and most importantly globally recognized, and our training partners play a major role in helping groom qualified chartered accountants to the world,” he said
“As a training partner, the organisation provides practical training which in result assists the long term development of the accountancy profession in the country,” he noted.
Chief Executive Officer of CA Sri Lanka, Mr. Aruna Alwis stressed that the three-year long practical training is an integral part of the institute’s study programme and the Institute believes that these partnerships with training organisations will benefit its trainees and the accounting profession as a whole.
Mr. Alwis also noted that for the benefit of its mammoth student base, the Institute also had its very own modern multi storied building which provides enhanced infrastructure facilities and services allowing students to follow the chartered accountancy course under much more student friendly environment.
Mr. Sanjaya Bandara, Alternate Chairman of the Students Training & Development Committee reiterated to the Supervising Members the importance of providing a quality training to develop a competent Chartered Accountant and emphasized that a thorough training is the expectation of the Institute from its training partners. Chairman of CA Sri Lanka’s Students Training & Development committee Mr. T Dharmarajah was also present at the event.
