The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) proudly hosted its Annual Prize Winners’ Award Ceremony 2025, celebrating the exceptional achievements of 53 high-performing students. A total of 72 prizes were awarded across multiple levels, recognising excellence, dedication, and the future promise of Sri Lanka’s next generation of Chartered Accountants.
Held under the theme “The Apex of Aspirations”, the ceremony honoured aspiring Chartered Accountants, who demonstrated outstanding performance in their examinations. Students were recognised across multiple levels of the CA Sri Lanka programme, including six subject prizes in Business Communication I & II, 17 subject prizes and 33 Best Performer awards in Business Level I & II, as well as three Best Achiever awards at the same level. At the advanced two levels of the CA programme, eight subject prizes were awarded at the Corporate Level and five subject prizes at the Strategic Level.
The event was graced by Mr. Heshana Kuruppu, President of CA Sri Lanka; Mr Tishan Subasinghe, Vice President, CA Sri Lanka; Ms. Anoji De Silva, Chairperson, Examinations Committee; Mr. Chamara Abeyrathne, Alternate Chairperson, Examinations Committee; and Ms. Lakmali Priyangika, Chief Executive Officer, CA Sri Lanka.
Delivering a powerful speech, Mr. Kuruppu reminded students of their growing relevance in a rapidly evolving world, “The world is not short of data; it is short of wisdom. It is not short of innovators; it is short of trusted stewards. This is the void you are destined to fill.”
He emphasised that a CA Sri Lanka qualification is globally respected from Colombo to Toronto and London to Dubai not just for technical skill, but for strategic agility, ethical leadership, and the ability to create meaningful impact. “Carry your achievements with both pride and humility. Let it serve not only as a milestone but also as a catalyst for a future career defined not merely by the numbers you analyse but by the positive impact you create in society,” he said.
In her speech, Ms. de Silva praised the prize winners as future leaders of the profession, “This is not just a personal win. You are now role models to your peers and ambassadors of professional excellence. Your journey must be guided by integrity, responsibility, and a commitment to ethical conduct.”
The CA Sri Lanka curriculum is structured to provide globally relevant, contemporary professional qualification with clear milestones at every stage. At the conclusion of each level, students can attain a recognised qualification: completing the Business Level, along with the required professional experience, earns the Certified Business Accountant (CBA) designation, while the completion of the Corporate Level confers the Certified Corporate Accountant (CCA) qualification; and successfully finishing the Strategic Level, which is the final stage of the CA programme, leads to the prestigious Chartered Accountant qualification.
This structured pathway, and the global recognition of the qualification, has made CA Sri Lanka the most preferred destination for accounting education in the country, attracting a student population of over 30,000.
