CA Sri Lanka revamps Matara branch with enhanced services for Southern Province students and members

In continuing its vision to ensure students from all walks of life has easy access to a globally recognised professional qualification, and members in the south can continuously upgrade their professional skills, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) last week revamped its Southern Province ‘Information Centre’ located in Matara for the benefit of existing and prospective students as well as members from the region.

The newly revamped Matara branch offers a range of new services for students and members including services in relation to the Multimedia English Language Centre, online IT exams, a newly equipped IT learning centre, free Wi-Fi facilities for members and students apart from CPD seminars and webinars and standard student related services such as registration of new students and purchasing of study packs.

The newly revamped Matara branch was declared open by President of CA Sri Lanka Mr. Manil Jayesinghe, and Vice President of CA Sri Lanka Mr. Sanjaya Bandara, in the presence of Council Members Ms. Anoji De Silva, Mr. Saman Siri Lal and CEO Ms. Dulani Fernando as well as other officials and invitees.

The revamped branch is part of CA Sri Lanka’s continuing effort to offer upgraded services and facilities for aspiring and prospective Accounting Professionals, as well as existing Chartered Accountants residing in the South.

As a world class professional body, CA Sri Lanka has been at the forefront in encouraging students from across the country to kick start a successful career in Chartered Accounting, immaterial of whether they hail from rural or urban Sri Lanka.

CA Sri Lanka has an extensive network of information centres in the country for the benefit of its students located in those respective areas. CA Sri Lanka has a total of seven information centres, including in Central Province (Kandy), North Central Province (Anuradhapura), Sabaragamuwa Province (Ratnapura), Wayamba Province (Kurunegala) Northern Province (Jaffna), and Eastern Province (Kalmunai) while the head office is located at Colombo 7.

Mr. Manil Jayesinghe said that the ultimate objective of CA Sri Lanka is to ensure all students are given an equal opportunity to follow the world-renowned qualification. "We don’t believe in only focusing on and attracting students from Colombo. Instead, we are determined to provide access to every Sri Lankan so they can have the opportunity to obtain a world class qualification. This is the thinking behind having information centres across Sri Lanka, to not only propagate the importance of the qualification, but to also make it easily accessible for students, so that they no longer need to come to Colombo if they wish to obtain a recognised qualification," he said.

Ms. Dulani Fernando said that the newly revamped branch has gone a step further and is now offering a variety of services for members, including the opportunity to engage in CPD programmes to help upskill them.  In our efforts to provide upto date facilities to our members and students, we will be revamping our branch network to ensure access to the required facilities are available across the country.
