Ms. Prasadika Madubhashini Jayasuriya, a student of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) was recently honoured with the coveted Gold Medal from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura for her exceptional achievements in the Chartered Accounting related field of study.
She was awarded the Gold Medal for scoring the highest overall average marks for Advance Financial Reporting, Financial Reporting, Financial Statement Analysis and Advanced Accounting Theory in the Bachelor of Science in Accounting (Special) Degree awarded by the University.
Sharing her secret to success, Ms. Jayasuriya said that she always set higher targets and gave her maximum to achieve these targets. “Try to complete the CA exams as soon as possible. Passing exams with excellent results is all about hard work and commitment,” she said.
Elaborating as to why she decided to pursue the CA Sri Lanka qualification, Ms. Jayasuriya said that her lifelong dream is to be an outstanding business personality in the world, while also working in a manner which will contribute towards the betterment of the society. “The CA Sri Lanka qualification is a recognized profession qualification all over the world. So I wanted to be a part of that, as it will complement my journey as a professional. The knowledge I obtained as a student of CA Sri Lanka assisted me greatly in achieving my results while pursing for the BSc. Accounting (Special) Degree at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura,” she added.
Apart from the gold media for her exceptional achievement in the field of Chartered Accounting, she was also awarded the Professor Y. A. D. S Samarathunaga & B. R. De Silva Memorial gold medal after being adjudged the best student of the degree programme.
A top achiever and a former student of Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo 8, Ms. Jayasuriya is currently attached to KPMG as an Associate II.
Ms. Jayasuriya who was ranked as the island’s 12th at the GCE Advanced Level examination in 2010, has also won several first in order of merit prizes and subject prize at the CA Sri Lanka CAB 1 and CAB 2 examinations held in 2011 and 2012. She also won the subject prize for Advanced Taxation & Strategic Tax Planning, Strategic Management Accounting at the institute’s Strategic Level 1 examination in June 2013.
She completed the BSc. Accounting (Sp.) Hons. of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura with a first class rank.
