CA Sri Lanka, SEC educates corporate directors on financial reporting and effects of SLFRS

The tenth and final session of the Corporate Directors Programme jointly conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will this week educate corporate directors on the important aspects of financial reporting, and the effects of the Sri Lanka Financial Reporting Standards.

The session which is designed to strengthen a director’s understanding on financial reporting aspects, will also focus on selecting appropriate accounting policies relevant to the sustenance of the organization, while updating directors with accounting developments witnessed both locally as well as globally.

Mr. Sanath Fernando, Partner of Ernst and Young will be the presenter at this session, while the panelists for the final session in the Corporate Directors Programme will comprise of Mr. Suren Rajakarier, Partner/Head of Audit of KPMG Sri Lanka and Maldives, Ms. Nilanthi Sivapragasam, CFO of Aitken Spence PLC and Ms. Anusha Mohotti, Acting Director General ofthe Sri Lanka Accounting and Auditing Standards Monitoring Board (SLAASMB).

The Corporate Directors Programme comprises of ten sessions where directors of listed companies are educated on the important aspects of corporate governance, financial reporting and regulatory aspects, thereby supporting them to effectively manage the affairs of companies for and on behalf of stakeholders.
