Fast-Track exemption scheme for CA Sri Lanka members and students to complete BSc. in Applied Accounting Degree

Members and students of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) can fast-track their way to a degree in applied accounting with a special exemptions scheme offered for the chartered qualification.

The BSc. in Applied Accounting which is offered by CA Sri Lanka’s degree arm, the School of Accounting and Business and has been recognized by the University Grants Commission, is a multi-disciplinary degree programme that consist courses in Management Accounting, Economics, Strategic Management, Corporate Law, Human Resource Management and Marketing. The faculty comprises of a cultivated lecture panel comprising of qualified professors, senior lecturers and industry professionals with profound and wide ranging theoretical & industry knowledge.

The degree is offered to CA Sri Lanka members and students who are keen in obtaining a recognized academic qualification, apart from the institute’s globally recognized chartered accountancy professional qualification.

The standard duration of the degree programme is three years covering six semesters and comprising of 34 courses. However students with the chartered qualification have the ability to complete the degree programme in less time due to the exemption scheme granted for the chartered accounting qualification.

Prospective students also have the opportunity to choose between the flexible weekend part time programme and the full time programme on weekdays.

The exemption criteria for the Chartered credentials are below:

  • FCA/ACA Members number of courses to be completed after exemptions – (4)
  • Number of courses to be completed after exemptions for Strategic level 1 Students – (5)
  • Number of courses to be completed after exemptions for Strategic Level II Students – (5)
  • Number of courses to be completed after exemptions for CAB II Students – (15)

Prospective students who are seeking exemptions from the degree in applied accounting must have obtained three passes (in any subject stream) at the GCE Advanced Level examination with a minimum mark of 30% for the Common General Paper or any foreign qualification (Edexcel/Cambridge) equivalent to GCE Advanced Level Examination in Sri Lanka as approved by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka.
