What's on

The Society undertakes many events during the year in the spheres of education, sports and social interaction. Few activities organized by us are:

  • International CA Students’ Conference
  • Student Fusion Business Magazine & Newsletter
  • Seminars
  • CA Students’ Sports Events
  • Awards Night
  • Students exchange program with SAFA
  • CSR Activities

This is an event, which provides access for CA Sri Lanka students to a forum of guest speakers and gives them an opportunity to question prominent figures on the happenings in the business community. Prominent personalities and intellectuals from various professional fields have graced the occasion as chief guests. Further Student delegates from Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and India who are members of South Asian Federation of Accounts (SAFA) are taking part in our conference representing their accounting bodies. Students from other professional bodies like ACCA, CIMA, and AAT are also invited to interact with us to share experiences and knowledge.

‘Fusion’ Business Magazine, a publication of CA Students Society, is published in line with the Students’ Conference. The primary objective of this magazine is to encourage students to contribute articles of their choice and it provides an excellent opportunity for students to express their views and opinions. Further, newsletter of the society is circulated annually amongst all registered students of the CA Sri Lanka which includes useful information such as syllabus change, training requirements, examination calendar etc.

This is an entertaining event organized in the grandest scale to provide students as well as members of CA Sri Lanka, an occasion to interact with each other and amongst the students of correlated professional bodies while enjoying themselves.

A chance for all working students to escape from the rigorous of work, deadlines, exams and move into a totally different arena of physical endurance. The primary goal of these sports events is to bring trainees of all member firms together to nurture an environment where we interact and make friends. The sports events organized by us are Cricket, Soccer, Badminton, Netball, Basketball, Swimming, Marathon, Carom, Volleyball and Table Tennis. Only member firms of CA Students Society are allowed to participate in these tournaments.

After a year of perseverance and competition, we award and inspire all those who emerge victors. Awards will be given not only to students who excel in examinations but also to those who excel in the Inter Auditors’ Sports events. This is followed by a night of music and dancing, fun and laughter, where we celebrate the completion of yet another eventful and successful year of work, exams and sports.

Representatives from CA Sri Lanka and CA Students Society are invited by the members of SAFA to take part in conferences and other events organized in the region. We as the representatives of Sri Lanka, participate in these events.

We, the CA Students’ Society as budding Chartered Accountants, strongly believe in the need to “give back to society”, a belief that we think should be cultivated at a very young age. This year as well the Society’s Social Committee organized a range of activities, the first being lending a helping hand to the Elderly community of the Sujatha Elders Home in Panadura, a project titled “Reach Out”, which was done in coordination with the Young Chartered Accountants Forum. Another successful project was the Blood Donation Campaign titled “Give Blood, Give Life” held at the Institute premises.

This competition extends to the SAFA Region as well, with the main aim of developing students’ literacy skills and expression of opinions on Current Affairs and other aspects of the corporate world. The winners of the Competition will be awarded while the best articles will be published in the Fusion Magazine, exposing students to a spectrum of views and updates on Current affairs.

This competition is brought in to enhance the awareness of students on the developments in the fields of Academic, Sports, Information Technology and Current Affairs.

While we continue to organize events to promote education, sports and social interaction, we hope to play a more active role with CA Sri Lanka on students’ welfare. Further, we plan to promote student development in areas, which go beyond the traditional classroom work, such as leadership, social skills, teamwork, etc.
